Obituary for Richard (Dick) Melvin Washburn Richard (Dick) Melvin Washburn 85, beloved family member, and friend to all, passed away peacefully in his sleep, May 23rd 2018, in Midvale Utah, due to conditions of age. Born November 14, 1932 to Parley (Dick) Alvin Washburn and Lottie Powell Washburn in Richfield Utah. Richard and his twin Robert were born prematurely, surviving due to the wonderful care given by their mother and grandmother.

As a veteran of the Korean War, he enjoyed the unique opportunity of serving alongside his twin brother in France, in the Army Signal Corps. Richard and Dona Marie Lund were sealed in the Los Angeles Temple September 9, 1960, raising their family in Southern California, and Sandy Utah. A stalwart member of the LDS Church, Richard served in many bishoprics, Scout Master and as a temple worker for many years.

Richard had a particular love of Central Utah and Idaho. He had a love of the outdoors and for gardening. Richard graduated from BYU with a degree in Industrial Engineering.

He worked for a myriad of companies over the years until his retirement at 78 years of age. He is survived by his wife Dona, Michael P. Washburn (son), Christina M. Hill (daughter), siblings Robert and Gary Washburn, and Jean Hennis, and by many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by David L. Washburn (son), and his parents.

As the patriarch of our family, and foundation of our love & faith, he will be missed.
