Obituary for Michael Kent Groves Michael Kent Groves, 54, passed away peacefully in his sleep Friday morning, May 18, 2018, at his home in Tooele, Utah with his wife Wendy by his side after a brave 6-month-long battle with cancer. Mike and Wendy were married January 13, 2017. Mike was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

He is survived by his wife Wendy and her daughter Jessica Alina and two grandchildren, Hailey and Michael who called him “Papa Mike”. He was a loving and kind person who will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Michael was the youngest son of Leland David and Marlene Hughes Groves who preceded him in death in 1999 and 2005 respectively.

He is also survived by three older brothers: Larry (North Salt Lake), Calvin (Murray) and Marvin (Tooele). Another older Brother, Allen (American Fork), passed away in 2004. Michael was a happy little blond-headed boy with a cute infectious laugh and winning smile.

He had a heart of gold and was a big help to his parents in caring for his older disabled brothers. He graduated from Bountiful J. High in 1977 and then Viewmont High School in 1981. He was a hard worker having worked for many years for Safeway in Bountiful with his father during his late teens and mid-20’s.

Later he worked for Albertson’s after his father retired in 1989 and moved to Sandy, Utah. He has cared for his elderly parents and Marvin for many years as a devoted son. After the death of his mother, he left Sandy and purchased a home in Tooele, Utah in 2008 to work for Albertson’s where he met his wife, Wendy, on an on-line dating site.

He worked most recently as a valued cement truck driver for Staker-Parsons in Tooele. A graveside service will be held at the Bountiful City Cemetery located at 2200 South 200 West in Bountiful, Utah on Thursday, May 24, 2018 at 1:00 PM. We express appreciating to Utah Cancer Specialists, Saint Mark’s Hospital, Mountain West Medical Center Tooele, local hospice services social workers, Serenity Funeral Home and the friends and neighbors who have all helped with Michael’s care.
