Earl Enoch Reynolds passed away from congestive heart failure in his home on May 5, 2018. He was born January 5, 1934 to Charles Alfred Reynolds and Cora Lydia Gregory Reynolds in Murray, UT. He was the youngest of eight children.
Earl loved sports and the camaraderie of his friends and teammates. At Murray High School, he played as a tackle on the football team and as a pitcher on the baseball team. He was also President of the Key Club.
After graduating in 1952, he served four years in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean conflict; serving as a radio operator in Mississippi, Japan, Korea, and Arizona. In February of 1957, Earl met Elizabeth “Betty” Maria Croese, the love of his life. They were married in the Salt Lake temple in August 1957.
Since that time, Earl and Betty have been completely in love and totally dedicated to each other. In later years, when Betty’s health deteriorated due to Multiple Sclerosis, Earl cared lovingly for her. After he could no longer provide the care she needed, he visited her in the skilled nursing facility every other day for nearly five years.
It was there that they celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary shortly before Betty passed away. This amazing love and dedication set an example for all who knew him, and will long be remembered by his family and all the friends he made at the facility during those years. Earl spent the bulk of his professional career as an electronics technician and supervisor for the National Weather Service.
His career enabled him to travel widely throughout the western United States and provide valuable expertise and management in a variety of capacities. Earl was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings throughout his life, including ward and stake leadership positions. Together, he and Betty served in the Toms River, New Jersey Mission and in the Jordan River temple for many years.
He loved being involved in his church service and was always willing to share his testimony of the Gospel of Jesus Christ with his family and friends. Earl is survived by his three children: Lydia (Roger) Neumann, Karen Reynolds, and Aaron (Carolyn) Reynolds; grandchildren Gary (Mindy) Neumann, Natali (Evan) Hanson, Randy (Robin) Neumann, Andrew (Alysse) Neumann, and Audrey Reynolds; nine great grandchildren; his sister Zona Axtell, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Betty; his parents; his brothers and sisters Vernal Leroy Brown, Elwood William Brown, Wilma Elizabeth Brown, Ernest Nephi Brown, Alfred Junior Reynolds, and William “Billie” Gregory Reynolds; and one great granddaughter.
A viewing will be held Friday, May 11 at 10:00 AM, followed by funeral services at 11:00 AM. These services will be held at Goff Mortuary, 8090 South State Street, Midvale, UT. Interment will follow at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 East Dimple Dell Road, Sandy, UT.
