Obituary for Marilyn “Marni” Omer Gandre Grace Even In Adversity Marilyn Gandre passed away peacefully on May 5, 2018. She had been able to share words of love and farewell with her family and those closest to her. Marilyn was born on February 3, 1946 to Wayne A. Omer and Melva T. Omer of Holladay, Utah, where she felt blessed to grow up so close to her beloved grandparents and other extended family members.

She graduated from Olympus High School as State Sterling Scholar in Art and was Girl’s Association President. Marilyn studied art at the University of Utah, during which time she met her sweetheart, Brent Gandre. They were married and sealed for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on March 21, 1966.

Together they raised six daughters in the community of Granite in Sandy, Utah. They devoted their lives to their daughters, sons-in-law, grandchildren, and great-granddaughter. Marilyn is a gifted artist and a talented musician.

She served as ward organist and accompanist for many years. She expressed her love of music through composition and teaching her grandchildren and others. Her career in artwork was extensive.

She was a sought after fine portrait artist. Her talents also lead her to establish several award winning businesses. Many students were fortunate to receive her instruction in drawing and painting.

She has a deep love of Christ and felt honored to work as a missionary assigned to paint murals for LDS temples throughout the world. Through her love of art she was able to form many lasting friendships that she cherished dearly. She will be greatly missed by the people who were touched by her kind heart, positive attitude, and pure love for others.

Marilyn is survived by her husband, M. Brent Gandre; daughters and sons-in-law; Michelle and Johnny Worthen, Tami and Kevin Kahle, Lisa and Eric Seely, Heather and Steve Pace, Nicole and Jason Kirchner, and Erika and Tom Campbell; 19 grandchildren; and 1 great-grandchild. She is also survived by her six brothers and sisters-in-law; Kenneth and Audrey Omer, Robert and Deborah Omer, Gerald and Denise Omer, Bradley and Sharol Omer, Theodore and Donna Omer, and Mark and Julie Omer; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. The viewing will be held Friday, May 11th, at Granite View Stake Center, 9880 S. 3100 East, Sandy, Utah 84092, from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Memorial services will be held at the same location on Saturday May 12th, at 12 noon, with a viewing prior to the services from 10:00-11:30 a.m. Interment will be at the Holladay Cemetery.
