Mr. Richard E. Lehmkuhl, 88, of DeWitt, Iowa, died Friday morning, October 12, 2018, at Genesis Medical Center-DeWitt. Richard Edward Lehmkuhl was born June 30, 1930 in North Liberty to the late George and Blanche (Reuver) Lehmkuhl. He graduated from Maynard High School.

Richard served in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War from 1952 until being honorably discharged in 1954. He married Dorothy Kisner September 17, 1955, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Oelwein. Dick spent his life working for multiple grain elevators, retiring from Peavey/Conagra Grain River Terminal, Clinton.

He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, DeWitt, the Knights of Columbus, DeWitt Noon Lions, Eugene McManus American Legion Post #238 of DeWitt and VFW. Dick enjoyed fishing and golfing. He loved his family dearly and cherished his time spent with the grandkids.

Surviving are his wife of 63 years, Dorothy; sons, Michael (Patricia) Lehmkuhl of Dubuque, David (Margie) Lehmkuhl and John (Sandy Vawter) Lehmkuhl of Clinton; grandchildren, Ashley (Jonathan) Karn, Jennifer (Carl) Lindberg, Perry (Jessica) Lehmkuhl, Kari (Baykham) Cam, Benjamin Lehmkuhl, Andrew Lehmkuhl, Megan Lehmkuhl and Jacob Lehmkuhl; great-grandchildren, Arleigh and Bergen Karn, Millie Lindberg and Sloane and Lennox Cam, step-great-grandchildren, Abigale, Shelby and Sydney James; siblings, Linda (Darrell) Smith, Nellie (Tony) Grasso, Barbara Stortz, Bill Lehmkuhl, Alfred “Jay” (Mary) Lehmkuhl. Also preceding him in death were siblings, Betty Menick and Robert and Eugene Lehmkuhl. The family will receive relatives and friends at St. Joseph Catholic Church, DeWitt from 9:00 until 10:45 a.m. Tuesday, October 16, 2018.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday in the church with the Rev. Fr. Stephen Page presiding.

Burial and military rites will follow in the church cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the American Lung Association. Pallbearers will be Ashley Karn, Perry Lehmkuhl, Benjamin Lehmkuhl, Andrew Lehmkuhl, Jacob Lehmkuhl and Jennifer Lindberg.
