Richard J. “Dick” Varoga, 81, of South Buffalo Twp. , passed away on Monday, December 17th, 2018 peacefully at his home. Trib, Please run in the Valley News Dick was born in the Homewood-Brushton section of Pittsburgh on August 13, 1937, a son of the late Catherine S. (Shoop) and John J. Varoga.

Dick graduated in 1956 from Westinghouse High School. After graduation, Dick joined the US Army and was stationed in Korea with the 304th Expeditionary Signal Battalion. Dick came home from Korea and took a job with Duquesne Light Co

He worked as a lineman for 38 years, retiring in 1997. Dick was a member of the Infinity Lodge #546 in Verona. Elks Lodge #644 in Tarentum.

He enjoyed fishing, yard work, vegetable gardening, traveling and camping with his wife in their RV. After his retirement, Rich and Nancy loved spending winters in Ft. Myers, FL.

Dick is survived by his wife of 55 years, Nancy L. (Luckock) Varoga. Son, Robert J. Varoga and Pam King of Ford City. Daughter, Tracie L. Bulka & Ron Burkarth of Summit Twp.

and his granddaughter, Colleen L Bulka of Freeport. He is also survived by his sister, Kay and Jack Hughes of Fort Myers, FL. and his cat, Short Cake.

Family and friends will be received on on Wednesday, December 19th from 2-4 & 6-8 pm in the Redmond Funeral Home Inc.524 High St. in Freeport. Funeral service will be held in 11 am on Thursday, December 20th in the funeral home with Pastor Adam Clever of United Presbyterian Church of Freeport officiating. Burial will be held in the Freeport Cemetery.
