Obituary for Richard J. Nyquist Nyquist, Richard “Dick” Age 96. May 16, 2018. Beloved husband of the late Fran.

Loving father of Dr. Julie Nyquist (Dr. Jerry Gates), Rick (Carol) Nyquist and Bob (Kate) Nyquist. Proud grandfather of ten grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Dear brother of Tom (Corrine) Nyquist and the late Robert (the late Ruth) Nyquist.

Mr. Nyquist was born on December 17, 1921 in Froid, MT to Richard and Lydia. He served in the US Army during WWII and, after earning his Bachelor’s degree at Wayne State University, was employed as an accountant. An avid camper and traveler, he and Fran had an opportunity to visit many places throughout the world and Dick took over 10,000 photos in their travels.

One of their great loves was spending time with friends at the Rolling Hills Club. Not one to be idle, Dick enjoyed golfing, bowling, square dancing and playing cards. The Nyquists’ were members of the First Congregational Church in Royal Oak for over 60 years and also longtime members of the Royal Oak Elks Club.

The family will receive friends Saturday, May 19 from 11 am until time of the memorial service, 11:30 am at First Congregational Church, 1314 Northwood Blvd. , Royal Oak, MI 48073. Memorial contributions to Doctors Without Borders, Habitat for Humanity (Oakland County) or First Congregational Church Memorial Fund are appreciated.
