Richard J. Stanford, 82, of New Carlisle passed away Thursday, June 28, 2018. He was born August 26, 1935 in Sebring, OH, the son of the late Raymond and Mary Stanford. Richard attended Donnels Creek Church of the Brethren.

He retired from Wright Patterson Air Force Base and early on in his career he worked on the Apollo 11 Rocket Program with Dr. Wernher Von Braun. He is preceded in death by his wife Nina. Richard is survived by his son Raymond (Martha) Stanford; brother David (Rosa) Stanford; grandchildren R.J. (Jennifer) Stanford, Travis Stanford, James Garcia, Ariel Cabrera and Michael Cabrera; great-grandson Jayden Stanford; several nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family.

Visitation will be Sunday from 3-6 PM in Trostel, Chapman, Dunbar & Fraley Funeral Home. A funeral service to honor Richard will be Monday at 10:00 AM in the funeral home with Pastor Tad Hobert officiating. Burial will be in New Carlisle Cemetery.
