Richard “Louie” “Fuzzy” Lewis Follis Richard “Louie” “Fuzzy” Lewis Follis, age 79, passed away on Saturday, June 16, 2018, at his home in Adrian. He was born August 21, 1938, in Brown County, Indiana, to Richard and Lucille (Carter) Follis. On September 21, 1963, he married Vicki Lee Remmele, with whom he enjoyed nearly 53 years of marriage, until her death on April 26, 2016.

He was previously employed with the Royster-Clark fertilizer company for more than 40 years and after just a few weeks of retirement went back to work, traveling the country behind the wheel of an eighteen wheeler for Raisin Valley, the of many stories he’d share with family, friends, and strangers alike. Richard loved sitting on his porch, taking shots of tequila, playing computer games, scratching off lottery tickets and playing the slots, and spending time with his family. Richard is survived by four children, Cheryl Follis, Richard Follis, Jr., Brian Follis, and Jennifer Follis, all of Adrian; four grandchildren, Eric (Whitney) Follis, of Greensboro, North Carolina, and Danielle Pate, Devin Stevens, and Madison Butler, all of Adrian; three great-grandchildren, Tucker Follis, of Toledo, Ohio, Taylor Bradshaw, of Greensboro, North Carolina, and Benson Winters, of Adrian; a grandchild and great-grandchild on the way; several loving nieces and nephews, including Allen and Kim Snead, and their children Keegan and Dalton, all of Blissfield; and countless dear friends, including his second family at Papa’s Coney Island, who always took such great care of him.

In addition to his wife, Richard was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, and several brothers and sisters-in-law. Sister Ethelyn (Charles) Elkins and several sisters-in-law survive. Richard loved his family and he never met a stranger.

He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Per Richard’s wishes, cremation has taken place. His family will receive guests in the celebration of his life from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, June 23, 2018, at the Purse Funeral Home, in Adrian.

Burial of Richard and Vicki’s cremains will take place at a later date, during a private ceremony at Oakwood Cemetery, in Adrian. In lieu of flowers, Richard’s family requests that memorial contributions be made to assist with final expenses. www.
