Robert Wendell Jacobs, 87, went to be with our Savior, Jesus Christ on Wednesday, July 18, 2018. He was born on April 22, 1931 in Frankfort, Indiana. His parents were Walter and Mary (Morris) Jacobs.

He and his wife Rosine (Jaeger) were married on June 21, 1952 in LaGrange, Texas. They are the parents of Lynn (Allen) Laugher of Idaho, Mark (Debra) Jacobs of Idaho, William (Deanna) Jacobs of Utah, Lee (Albert) Rittinger of Michigan, and Nathan Jacobs of Michigan. They have 21 grandchildren and 48 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother James, son Nathan, and three great-grandchildren Brady, Halie and Jonathan. Bob was a 1949 graduate of Ann Arbor Pioneer High School and a 1951 graduate from the two-year Agriculture Short Course at Michigan State University. In his youth, he was a Boy Scout in Troop 14 in Ann Arbor earning the rank of Eagle Scout.

As an adult, he was a Scoutmaster for many years and was also an Explorer Advisor. Throughout his life, Bob worked in sales, including as a co-owner of R. Jacobs Enterprises, selling pet supplies wholesale. After he retired from sales, he was employed by The Daily Telegram newspaper in Adrian, retiring in 2017 after nearly 20 years.

Bob enjoyed reading, working with those with special needs, serving in his church and writing poetry. He wrote over 17,000 poems which he often wrote personally about family and friends and shared these poems with them. He also enjoyed sharing jokes and stories with others around him.

“A Celebration of Life” will be held 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Friday, July 20, 2018 at J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, 210 W. Pottawatamie St., Tecumseh, Michigan. Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Saturday, July 21, 2018 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 525 Woodland Drive, Saline, MI with Brother Bill English officiating. There will be visitation at 10:00 a.m. preceding the service at the church.

Burial will follow at Lodi Cemetery on Textile Rd. , Saline. Memorial contributions may be made to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints missionary fund, the Arc of Michigan, or one’s choice.
