Rice, Richard R. Sr. On May 19, 2019 Richard Randolph Rice Sr., U.S. Air Force Veteran, passed away at age 83. Mr. Rice retired from Baltimore Gas & Electric in 1990, where he had worked as a machinist, but in his home life he was known as a true craftsman. From mechanics to welding to woodworking and building beautiful furniture, there was nothing he couldn’t do !

He was also a model train enthusiast and collector with a huge train garden in his home where he would spend hours making intricate buildings, fences and whatever was needed for his display. A member of the Lighthouse Church of Glen Burnie, Richard was also a fan of the Baltimore Orioles and along with his wife Bonnie was an avid bike rider. Richard Rice Sr. was the beloved husband of 63 years to Bonnie Thompson Rice; devoted father of Richard “Randy” Rice Jr. and his wife Mary, Karin Krause and her husband Ron; loving grandfather of Richard III, Lauren, Natalie, Kylie, Meghan and husband Mike, Timothy, Stephanie and Samantha.

He was also blessed with great grandchildren: Owen, Aubrie, Kiersten, Gavin, Steven, Quinton, Silas, Levi and Harper Leigh. Friends and family may visit at Gonce Funeral Service P.A., 4001 Ritchie Highway on Wednesday 10am to 1pm. Commital Service in Glen Haven Memorial Park at 2pm.
