Richard L. Bruns Sr. Spaulding Township, Michigan Our beloved husband, father and grandfather went home to the Lord on Wednesday, July 4, 2018, with his family by his side. He was 79 years old. Richard was born December 18, 1938, in Saginaw to the late John and Neva (Simmons) Bruns.

He retired from General Motors in 1993 after 33 years of service. He volunteered for the Spaulding Township Fire Department for 35 years. Richard enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, working in his woodshop and spending time at his cabin.

For 13 years he and his wife liked to “snow-bird” in Donna, Texas. They also liked to venture on what he called a “color tour” that was actually time spent with his wife at the casino. Most of all he loved time spent with his family especially his grandchildren.

Richard married Suzann (Benkert) Bruns on November 5, 1960; she survives him. Besides his wife he will be missed by his children, Richard (Mary) Bruns, Steven (JoEllen) Bruns, Stacey (Robert) Brown; grandchildren, Adam Bruns, Andrew Bruns and Isabella Brown; brothers, John Bruns and Larry (Sharon) Bruns; and many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. He was predeceased by his brothers, Dale (Randy) Bruns and Thomas (Marlene) Bruns; and sister-in-law, Shirley Bruns.

The family would like to thank the staff of Reverence Hospice for the wonderful care they provided to Richard. Funeral Liturgy will take place at 11:00 a.m. Monday, July 9, 2018 at St. Francis of Assisi Parish St. Anthony of Padua Church at 3680 S. Washington Rd. Fr.

Thomas Schmied OFM Cap. will officiate with burial to follow in Spaulding Township Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Sunday at W.L. Case & Company 5700 Dixie Highway where a prayer service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Friends may also visit with the family on Monday at church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
