Obituary for Rita Jo Colbert On December 22nd 1957, Rita Jo was the fourth child born to L.B. Sr., and Gertie B Alexander. As a child, she received Christ at a early age while attending New Hope Baptist Church in Wetumka, OK . She received her preliminary education in the Wewoka Pubic School System where she graduated in 1976.

She was an honor student, voted Homecoming Queen and “Most Likely To Succeed” by her peers. She continued her education at the University of Central Oklahoma formerly known as Central State University. She became employed with Bell South as a part-time employee then later gaining full-time employment in 1980 where she worked and retired after 32 years of service as a Circuit Design Specialist.

While attending college, she met and married the love of her life, Dwight Colbert. They became dedicated and faithful members of Greater Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Oklahoma City for many years.

Rita enjoyed gardening, watching Big Brother, Dancing with the Stars, Wheel of Fortune but most of all, she loved taking care of her family, cooking, baking, especially Italian Cream, Mandarin Orange, Pound Cake, and her famous Chocolate Sheet Cake. She was an avid OSU Cowboys football fan and Golden State Warriors basketball fan. A life overflowing with love and joy came to an end on Tuesday, October 16th 2018.

Proceeding her in death: her grandparents, parents, two brothers: Decovan ad Henry Alexander. She leaves to cherish her memories: Her devoted husband Dwight of the home, one son: Kervin(Nikki), one daughter Erica; three grandchildren: Braylon, Kazeyn, and Kamdyn; two sisters: Pat Kline of Washington D.C., Sametria (Michael) Stevenson of Piedmont, OK, three brothers: Saunders (Dusty) Alexander of Wewoke, Ok; Ivy (Karren) Alexander of Tulsa, Ok; and L.B. Alexander Jr., of Oklahoma City, Ok, two uncles; Thomas “James” (JoAnn) Samilton of Tulsa, Ok, and Edward (Willene) Samilton of Tulsa, Ok, two aunts; Mable Alexander of Wewoka, Ok; and Virginia Jo Reynolds of Tulsa Ok; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, and many, many friends who loved her dearly.
