Obituary for Rita Pauline Smith Rita P. Smith, age 84, of Flat Rock, passed away on Tuesday, April 10, 2018 at Beaumont Hospital in Trenton, Michigan. Born on April 29, 1933 in Wyandotte, Michigan, she was the daughter of Edward and Mary (Wojewoda) Machowski. On October 27, 1951 she married John Smith at St. Stanislaus Kostka Church in Wyandotte, MI.

Rita was a member of St. Roch’s Catholic Church, worked with the Meals on Wheels program, also on the Flat Rock Election Board, was a Girl Scout Leader for 5 years and a Red Cross Volunteer for 10 years. She loved to travel to Florida and their cabin up north. Spending time with her family and her grandchildren whom she adored, were some of her most cherished moments.

Rita was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother, Edward Machowski, sisters, Marcella Sims, Rose Marie Mac and Evelyn Perdue. Surviving are daughters, Cathy Smith of Blairsville, GA, Ruth (Gregg) Law of Traverse City and Julie (Michael) Bell of Plymouth; 15 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and sister, Theresa Hunley of Jackson. Friends may visit in the Arthur Bobcean Funeral Home, Flat Rock Chapel on Friday, April 13, 2018 from 1:00 pm to 8:00 pm.

Funeral Services will be held at St. Roch Catholic Church on Saturday, April 14, 2018 at 10:00 am. She will lie instate from 9:30 am until time of service. Fr.

Ray Lewandowski will officiate the service. Burial will be in Michigan Memorial Park, Huron Township, Michigan. In lieu of flowers contributions in her memory may be made to the St. Roch Catholic Church.
