Obituary for Robert “Bob” Riddle On October 12, 2018, our brother and well-loved friend Robert “Bob” Riddle went to be with the Lord bringing an end to a remarkable and giving life. Bob was born on June 21, 1968 in Sommerville, New Jersey and was raised in Evergreen, Colorado. Bob was a proud graduate of the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, New York.

He traveled the world and settled down to make his home in San Antonio where he worked as a chef in memorable eateries before opening San Remo Italian Ristorante, Podna’s Catfish and Po’boys, and then his proudest business venture—Big Bob’s Burgers. Bob is preceded in death by his beloved mother Charlotte Riddle and his father William “Bill” Riddle. Bob is survived by his brother James Riddle, sister-in-law Tammy Riddle and niece Talia Riddle of Denver, Colorado; Step Son Chase Creighton of San Antonio; and countless life-long friends and loved ones.

Bob was a caring and giving man leading quietly by example. He never refused to help a person in need no matter his own circumstances. Bob’s compassion and friendships extended to many of his friends’ children, leaving many young hearts to dearly miss “Big Bob”.

His family and friends would ask everyone to remember Bob by honoring his legacy by helping others as Bob would have done. A community wide Celebration of Bob Riddle’s life will take place this Wednesday, October 17, 2018 from 6pm to 9pm at Big Bob’s Burgers at 447 W. Hildebrand Ave. In honor of Bob, there will be live music, great food and an opportunity to share fun memories of this kind-hearted man.

A portion of the proceeds from food and drink sales will be donated to the Texas Lyme Disease Association and The Children’s Shelter of San Antonio. Donations to these charities near and dear to Bob’s heart can be made to directly to each organization online or in person the night of the celebration. We invite everyone to join us in showing “Big Bob” just how many people loved him and his huge giving heart.
