Robert B. Gain, 92, died of complications of Esophageal Cancer on January 21, 2019, in Greensboro, NC. Bob was born on the 4th of March 1926 in Barrington, NJ, to parents Edward A. Gain and Marie V. Gain. In 1944 Bob was drafted into the US.

Army. He served until the end of the war in 1945, after which he returned to school to finish H.S. He graduated from Barrington HS in NJ with a high school diploma in 1946, then immediately joined up to have a very successful career in the US Army.

My father’s career took him many places to include; Panama, New York, New Jersey, Japan, Korea, Massachusetts and Vietnam. My father was a recruiter and was part of the prestigious Army Security Agency. He performed many duties and was successful in them all.

Bob was a devoted Christian who loved the Lord with all his heart. Bob Gain as he was called by those who loved him, is survived by his loving wife of 71 years, Rosemary R. Gain nee Bernier, of Merchantville, NJ. He was a great family man and a loving father.

He married the former Rosemary Bernier in 1947 and the couple had 8 children together, including Kathleen Hess nee Gain of Greensboro, NC, Robert Gain Jr. of Greensboro, NC, James Gain of Kissimmee, FL, Rosemary Holcomb, nee Gain of Greensboro, NC, Carleen Bryant of Ocoee, FL, Michael Gain of Harrisburg, NC, George Gain of Cary, NC and Judith Gain of Orlando, FL. Bob had 25 grandchildren and 38 great-grandchildren. Bob’s surviving sister, Sister Delores Gain of Immaculata PA.

She has been a Nun since 1948. Bob enjoyed having fun and joking around, he had a great sense of humor. He loved to kid his family and make them all laugh.

Bob will be always remembered of his love of comedy movies and would laugh hysterically while watching them. Bob was always easy to talk to and ask him for his opinion. He was an easy-going gentle man and showed the ones he loved that they were important to him.

He is preceded in death by his Father, Edward A. Gain of Philadelphia, PA, and Marie V. Gain nee Kane of Philadelphia, PA. ; his sister Marie L. Gain nee McGurk, of Philadelphia, PA. ; his brother Edward A. Gain Jr. of Williamstown, NJ.

, his brother, Thomas F. Gain, of Gloucester, NJ. And his sister Marguerite L. Gain nee Stanley of Mantua, NJ A Memorial Service has been scheduled for 1 P.M. on February 1, 2019, at the Salisbury National Cemetery, 501 Statesville Blvd, Salisbury, NC 28144 with a reception to follow for immediate family only at Carter Brothers Barbeque, 3802 Samet Dr, High Point, NC. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations for the Hospice of the Piedmont 1801 Westchester Dr, High Point · (336) 889-8446.
