BOARDMAN – Robert C. Johnston, Jr, 73, of Boardman passed away Tuesday evening at Hospice House following a courageous battle with his illness. “Bobby” was born August 19, 1945 in Youngstown, a son of Robert C. and Mary Louise Riley Johnston, Sr. and was a lifelong member of the community. He was a 1964 graduate of Cardinal Mooney High School, attended Youngstown College for one year and then went to American Academy of Arts graduating with a degree in Graphic Arts.

Mr. Johnston degree afforded him the luxury of designing china for Shenango China and East Palestine China in which he was employed for 45 years and designed the artwork for plates and cups for Disney! He was a member of St. Patrick Church and the Petri Club. He is survived by his fiancée, Sally Merwin; nephew, Michael (Kacey) Carsone of Irwin, PA; nieces, Michele Carsone of Canton and Melissa (Daniel) Nagy of Youngstown; seven great nieces and nephews, and countless friends whom he treasured.

Besides his parents, Mr. Johnston was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Louise Carsone and infant twin nephews, Daniel and Jeffrey Carsone. As per Mr. Johnston request there will be no services. Thoughts and condolences may be sent to the funeral home website www.
