Steinbuch, Robert Charles, Born May 28, 1936 in Cincinnati Ohio, Left this earth with a strong faith in God for a better place on June 24, 2018 at the age of 82. Husband of Imojean (Sutton-Snyder), Better L. (Hector) Bonz. He dearly loved his “Kentucky Girl” Imojean and her soft and gentle disposition, and he was so grateful that she put with him and his many faults all of those years.

Adopted son of the beloved and late Charles E. & Margaret L. (Davis) Steinbuch. Brother of Marcia Joan Boles, Santa Clarita, Ca. , Linda Margaret Nelson, Burbank, Ca.

Uncle to Jessica, Christopher, and Charles; and with many cousins spread across the U.S. Father of Robert G., Michael C. (Mary), & Judi L. (The late Chuck) Kyle. He loved all of his children very much, and always wished that he could have spent more time with them than God allocated him while here on Earth. He was especially proud to see that his “kids” are such a closely-knit family who love each other.

Grandfather of Maxwell, Samuel, Grace, Brandon Steinbuch, Michael (Arrowwood), Amanda (Bruce) Crowe. Great-Grandfather of Kyla and Karli Crowe. Stepfather of Pamela Snyder & Gregory (Janice) Snyder.

Step-grandfather of Joshua, Angie, & Amy Snyder. Step-great-grandfather of Damien and Khloe & Liam Snyder. He was a proud native of the West Side of Cincinnati and a graduate of Delhi Township Grade School and Western Hills High School.

He also attended the University of Cincinnati. He lived the greater part of his life in and around Lebanon and Mason, in Warren County, Ohio. He proudly served in the U.S. Air Force from 1958 thru 1964, which included being called up during the Cuban Missile Crisis in 1962.

He was honorably discharged with the rank of Airman First Class. He retired from Cincinnati Milacron in 1989 after 35 years and The Overly-Hautz Motor Base Co. of Lebanon, Ohio in 2003 after 8 years. He was a loyal and active member, and a PER of Lebanon Elks Lodge #422 for over 35 years; most of which he held various offices.

He was also a member of the Scottish Rite Valley of Cincinnati; Lebanon Lodge #26, F. & A.M; Lebanon Chapter #343 O.E.S; plus a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Aerie #1395 in Lebanon . He was an avid Cincinnati Bearcat fan, and a NASCAR race fan that enjoyed sports, starting with basketball, which he played until he was 25. Softball took over for him until he turned 39 when he had to say “uncle”.

Bowling took over after softball along with the game of golf, which he taught himself while caddying at Western Hills Country Club starting at age 12. He was a part time “greens-keeper” for 15 years at the Jack Nicklaus Golf Center in Mason. He was happy when working in his garden, tending to his yard, pool, and landscaping, in which he took great pride.

He also enjoyed keeping his house in good repair, doing much of the work himself. One of his proud possessions was his 1983 Buick Riviera convertible, which he enjoyed for over 25 years. He loved his pets, Jenny, Blackie, Prissy, Peppi, Brandy, Perki and Suzie.

While he always struggled with the belief that people thought he was a “mean old bear”, he was just a “sentimental softy” on the inside, who cried whenever he heard “Taps” or the “Star Spangled Banner” played. He would like for you to remember him as you would have like him to be, rather than how he was “for we pass this way but once…”. Memorial donations may be sent to : Elks Lodge #422, 29 E. Mulberry St., Lebanon or First Baptist Church – Mason.
