Robert D. “Bob” Winkle KALIDA — Robert D. “Bob” Winkle, 93, of Kalida passed away 10:50 p.m. Saturday, October 20, 2018 at the Meadows of Kalida. He was born June 22, 1925 in Malinta to the late Forrest and Ona (Hummon) Winkle. On May 6, 1950 he married his wife of 68 years, Cleora Stoepfel, who passed away on May 29 of this year.

He is also survived by seven children; Rebecca (Charles) Bockrath, Stanley (Janet) Winkle, Roger (Vicki) Winkle, Annette (Bill) Unverferth, Karen (Kenny) Erhart, Dale (Patty) Winkle and Scott (Tricia) Winkle, all of Kalida; 16 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; a sister: Marilyn Kimmet; 3 brothers: David Winkle, Irvin Winkle and Kenneth Winkle. Robert was also preceded in death by a sister, Grace Shively and 2 brothers: John Winkle and Richard Winkle. After graduating in 1943, at the age of 18, Robert entered the US Navy during WWII.

Robert retired as an electrician from Ford Motor Company, Lima. He also owned and operated Winkle Metal Detector Sales until December 2017. Bob was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church, Kalida and its Holy Name Society.

He was a member of the Kalida Knights of Columbus and was a former member of the Kalida Local Schools Board of Education. Bob was a founding member of The Country Gentlemen band, was a charter member of the Kalida Lions Club and a member of the Kalida Fish and Game club. He was a member of the both the Ottawa American Legion and Ottawa VFW and enjoyed being a member of the Putnam County Pool League.

Bob’s favorite pastimes were fishing, hunting, metal detecting and shooting pool anytime and with whom ever he could. He also dearly loved to play his guitar with the band and for his kids, grandkids and great-grandkids. He also enjoyed doing all kinds of yard work and gardening, but was especially fond of mowing his lawn.

He will be deeply missed by his family and many friends as well. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, October 25, 2018 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, Kalida with Father Mark Hoying officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be Wednesday from 2 to 8 p.m. at LOVE-HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Jackson Township.
