Robert D. Hahn 78, of Marengo, passed away on Tuesday, July 17, 2018 at Centegra Hospital – Huntley. He was born in Woodstock on February 11, 1940 to William and Clara (Wilkens) Hahn. He married Patricia Ehlert on March 7, 1959 at Grace Lutheran Church in Woodstock.

Bob, or “Rags” as he was known to many, owned R.D. Hahn Masonry for 35 years, he was known county wide for his workmanship. He served as a volunteer Fireman for the Woodstock City Fire Department and he loved his time volunteering. He loved to tell stories about his life, some fact some fiction.

His home in the woods outside of Marengo was known as the “Hahndarosa”. Bob was an avid Cubs and Bears fan; and he loved the outdoors, his younger days as a sportsman with a gun, then later in life enjoying the wildlife at his home without a gun. His morning coffee time with friends was a favorite for him and the lucky participants.

Time giving rides on tractors to his grandchildren and great grandchildren was precious. He loved fireworks on the holidays with his family. His laugh will be heard by many forever.

The stories he shared will bring laughter to all that heard them. He was loved and will be missed. He is survived by his wife, Patricia Hahn; a son, Dean Hahn; a daughter, Stacia (Eric Haas) Hahn; three brothers, William (Helga) Hahn, Don (Juanita) Hahn, James (Sue) Hahn; five granddaughters, Meghan (Ryan) Doty, Kaelyn (Chris) Forston, Kristan (Dan) Schmidt, Kelsy Hahn, and Linzie Hahn; great grandchildren, J.B., and Addie Forston, Hazel Schmidt, Evie Doty; daughter in law, Kim Hahn; a brother in law, Walt Samorez; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Ken Gibson will officiate. In lieu of flowers, memorials to a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated.
