Robert E. Wolter, age 79, of Princeton, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 29, 2018, at Martha’s Inc. in Princeton. He was born on May 9, 1938, in Ripon, a son of Ervin and Esther (Zuehls) Wolter. Bob attended St. John’s Lutheran Grade School, Princeton High School and UW- Platteville.

On August 18, 1962, Bob married Sharon Daye, his lifelong partner and best friend. He had worked at Farmers Merchant Bank in Princeton, Condon Oil Company in Ripon and Del Monte in Markesan. Bob and his wife, Sharon, had owned and operated the Knowledge Emporium in Green Lake for 25 years.

Bob was a soft spoken, deeply intelligent man with a wry sense of humor that could catch you by surprise. He loved being in the yard and gardens of the country home he shared with Sharon. Together they enjoyed various trips around the United States, including Hawaii.

Bob was an avid reader and a sports fan. He followed both the Cleveland Indians and Milwaukee Brewers baseball teams, the Green Bay Packers, and the Wisconsin Badgers. Bob liked to watch Jeopardy and always challenged Sharon.

Bob was a lifelong member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Princeton. Bob is survived by his wife of 55 years, Sharon Wolter of Princeton; sister, Elaine (Duane) Norem of Green Bay; brother, Ronald (Denise) Wolter of Princeton; brother-in-law, Charles (Jean) Daye of Markesan; sister-in-law, Diana Wolter of Green Lake; 3 nieces; 3 nephews; 3 great nieces; 6 great nephews; 1 great great nephew; special friends, Jim Gneiser and Dave and Jeannine Hensler; many other relatives and friends. He was a preceded in death by his parents, Ervin and Esther Wolter; brother, Kenneth Wolter.

A funeral service for Robert E. Wolter will be held on Saturday, May 5, 2018, at 11:00 a.m., with visitation beginning at 9:00 a.m., at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 226 South Clinton St., in Princeton. Pastor John Stelter will officiate. Robert will be laid to rest following the service in the Memory Hill Cemetery in Princeton.
