OBITUARY Robert Jack Blevins October 14, 1931 – November 21, 2018 HICKORY— Jack Blevins, 87 of Hickory passed away peacefully at his residence on November 21, 2018. Born Robert Jack Blevins, in Catawba County on October 14, 1931, he was the son of the late R. Glenn and Earline Sigmon Blevins. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife of 36 years Doris Sigmon Blevins; and a brother Johnny Blevins.

Jack attended Hickory City Schools and Lenoir-Rhyne College. He was a life-long member of St. Andrew’s Lutheran Church. He had retired from the City of Hickory after more than 30 years of service.

Jack was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War, and life member of Post 48 of the American Legion where he served as Chaplin for over 30 years, and served on the Honor Guard for many, many veterans. Jack is survived by his son Richard Jeffery Blevins; brother Thomas “Tommy” Blevins and wife Mabel of Hickory; nephew Christopher Blevins of Hickory; nieces Robbie Blevins, and Roxanne Blevins of Hickory and Karen Blevins of Colorado; longtime friend and caregiver, J. Don Rush of Hickory; and a number of cousins. Graveside service will be held Monday, November 26, 2018 at 2:00 pm at Catawba Memorial Park with Reverend Bill Bentley officiating and with American Legion Post 48 providing military honors.
