Robert L. Bias, 63, of Mud River left his home to be with the Lord on Monday, January 28, 2019. He was preceded in death by his dad, Bob Bias; and brother, Stoney Bias. He was a member of the Danville Church of Christ since May of 2003.

He loved his church family, especially the older ones who he had picked up in the van. Robert leaves behind his wife of 41 years, Connie Berry Bias; daughter, Marlena Bias and niece, Emily Stewart; his mother, Betty Bias; brother, Ricky (Kathy) Bias; sisters, Brenda (David) Walker and Regina (Butch) Smith all of Mud River. He is also survived by his father and mother-in-law, Virgil and Lizzie Berry; sister-in-law, Hazel (Wayne) McKinney; and brother-in-law, Danny Berry, and David (Sonja) Berry; and a host of nieces and nephews who he loved dearly.

Robert loved to camp, boat ride, and he enjoyed life. He loved having his nieces and nephews with us at Summersville. He also loved to work.

He was taught by the best, his dad. He built his first house when he was 16 years old for a motorcycle, then wrecked it and had to give it back. He worked 31 years in the coal mines, and built 81 houses, churches, and businesses in Boone, Kanawha, Lincoln, Wayne, Raleigh, Pocahonas, and Greenbrier counties.

He was also ready to give a helping hand. If someone had a problem, it became his until he could get it fixed. I would like to thank all our family and friends for their prayers, visits, or just showing up at the door with a dish of something good.

A special thanks to Regina Smith for being my rock through all of this. Service will be 11 a.m. Thursday, January 31 at Handley Funeral Home in Danville with Richard Runyan officiating. Burial will follow in Billups Cemetery, Mud River.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. To send flowers or a memorial gift to the family of Robert L. Bias please visit our Sympathy Store.
