LOWVILLE – Robert Nelson Widrick, 87, formerly of East State Street, passed away early Saturday morning, December 8, 2018, at the Lewis County Residential Healthcare Facility. Calling hours will be held from 1 – 3 p.m. on Wednesday, December 12, 2018, at Lowville Mennonite Church. The funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the church, with Rev.

Keith Zehr, Pastor, and Rev. Milton Zehr officiating. Burial will be in the Croghan Mennonite Cemetery in the spring.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Mennonite Disaster Service, c/o Jeff Mosier, 5365 SR 289, Mannsville, NY 13661. He is survived by his wife of over 68 years, Muriel; his children and their spouses, Sharon and Glenn Curry of Watertown; Dale and Debbie Widrick of Guernsey, Wyoming; Keith and Colleen Widrick of Webster; Brenda and Stephen Malone of Lowville; a sister and her husband, Jeanette and James Spencer of Raymondville; a brother-in-law, John Grau of Lowville; a sister-in-law, Bonnie Widrick of Burrville; nine grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and a great-great grandson. He is predeceased by his parents; a grandson, Jon M. Widrick; and four siblings, Mona (Donald) Christman, Alice Grau, Walter Widrick; and Margaret Widrick, who died in infancy.

Robert was born on February 21, 1931 in Croghan, NY, a son of the late Jonas and Lucille Powers Widrick. He attended country school at Belfort, and worked on his uncle’s farm, before going to work for Household Gas in Lowville. On November 23, 1950, he married Muriel Ruth Roggie at the Nazarene Church Parsonage in Lowville.

After their marriage, Bob continued to work for Household Gas, later named Suburban Propane for many years, until his retirement. Mr. Widrick was a member of the Lowville Mennonite Church. He was a member and volunteered with Mennonite Disaster Service for several years after his retirement, and was a member of Beaver Camp.

He enjoyed working and volunteering with these two organizations. Bob enjoyed hunting, hunting trips, and fishing. He enjoyed his February vacation in Myrtle Beach.
