Robert Thomas Sheren age 90 of St. Johns, MI passed away Sunday, May 13, 2018, at Sparrow Hospital, Lansing, MI. A Celebration of Life will be held at the St. Johns VFW Post on Saturday, June 16, 2018 at 1:00 P.M. Entombment of his urn will be at Mt. Rest Cemetery St. Johns, MI at a later date.

Robert was born in Baldwin, MI on March 28, 1928, the son of Thomas Jefferson and Gertrude (Lee) Sheren. Robert served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Robert married Gertrud Sauer on March 14, 1952; Gertrud passed away on October 3, 1984.

Robert retired from the State of Michigan. He was active with the St. Johns VFW Post 4113. Robert and Gertrud ran the Muscular Dystrophy Telethon in St. Johns for 10 years.

Until his 89th birthday he chaired the St. Johns Old Newsboys. Robert resided most of his life in St. Johns. He is survived by his son Gary and Michelle Diane Sheren of Perrinton, MI; son Kevin and Shannon Marie Sheren of Lansing, MI; daughter Lois Lash of El Paso, TX; grandson Kirk John-Robert and Sunnie Sheren of Lansing, MI; brother David and Sara Winney of Cooksville, TN; and godson Michael Lynn Weber of St. Johns, MI.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents, his step-father Lewis Winney, his wife, brothers Claude, Lewis and Ted and sisters Mary and Luwanna. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Old Newsboys. Online condolences can be sent to www.
