Frances Ann (Fran) Stehlik age 74, of Ovid, MI, passed away Monday, July 2, 2018, at Sparrow Hospital, Lansing. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Holy Family Catholic Church, Ovid, MI, at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, July 9, 2018. Burial will take place at Middlebury Township Cemetery.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 8, 2018 2-8 P.M. with family present from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. at Smith Family Funeral Homes, Elsie, MI. Fran was born in St. Johns, Michigan on July 23, 1943, the daughter of Anthony and Anna (Decoweski) Suchowesky. She graduated from Rodney B. Wilson with the class of 1961.
On February 17, 1962, Fran married Frederick Stehlik at St. Cyril’s Catholic Church in Bannister, Michigan. Together they celebrated 55 years of marriage before his passing on July 8, 2017. Fran was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Ovid.
Fran was a waitress at the Main Bar in Ovid and a cashier at Rushers also in Ovid. She did sewing for ASC in Lansing for over 20 years prior to her retirement. Fran loved crocheting making many beautiful afghans.
She loved flowers and gardening. Fran enjoyed sharing the results of her creativity with others. There are many memories of her gifts and baked goods.
She was very dedicated to her family and treasured her time with them, especially her grandchildren! Fran is survived by her daughter: Joelle Mulder of Elsie, MI; former daughter-in-law: Beverly Stehlik of Ovid, MI; grandson: Kyle Stehlik of Ovid, MI; granddaughter: Jayden Mulder of Elsie, MI; sister: Pat Rewerts of St. Johns, MI; brother: Stan (Jan) Suchowesky of Lake, MI; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, husband Fred in 2017, son Mark on June 30, 2018, and sister: Maryann Fero, twin brothers John and Bill Suchowesky, sister: Anna Drumheller, and infant sister: Stella.
Mark Anthony Stehlik age 54 of Ovid, passed away June 30, 2018 after a very short battle with cancer. Mark was born November 23, 1963 in Carson City, Michigan to Frederick and Frances (Suchowesky) Stehlik. He graduated from Ovid-Elsie High School with the class of 1982.
Mark had a Bachelor of Science in Engineering from I.T.T. Technical Institute in Ft. Wayne, Indiana. Mark spent his career working in the automotive industry, mostly in the field of robotics.
He was an avid hunter, and fisherman, but Mark’s true passion was hunting for Morels. One of Mark’s greatest joys was teaching his son Kyle his love of the outdoors, hunting and fishing. Out of his love for his parents, Mark spent the most recent years dedicating himself to their care.
Mark is survived by his son: Kyle Stehlik, very special friend: Beverly Stehlik, sister: Joelle Mulder, and niece: Jayden Mulder. Mark’s mother Frances Stehlik followed him just 3 days later, passing away on July 2, 2018. He was also preceded in death by his father Fred in 2017.
