Obituary for Robert V. Nichols Mr. Robert V. Nichols, age 91, passed away Wednesday, January 9, 2019 in Muskegon. He was born on January 29, 1927 in Grand Rapids, MI to Glen and Fannie (Chandler) Nichols. Bob was a Veteran of the Army Air Corps during World War II.

He retired from DTE Energy in 1982 after 37 years of work and was a Vice President of the local union. Bob was a member and former trustee of Trinity Lutheran Church, and VFW 446. He was a true outdoorsman and avid hunter and fisherman.

Bob enjoyed karate, earning a brown belt, and enjoyed family time on Lake Leelanau. On September 27, 1952, he married the former Ruby Bumgardner and she survives Bob along with two children: daughter, Shelly Shook of Muskegon and her children, Shane (Stacey) Shook, and Amber (Josh) Shook; son, Mark (Cathy) Nichols of N. Carolina, and their children, Austen (Nerissa) Nichols and Elyse (Michael) Poston; two great grandchildren, Owen and Averie Shook; sister-in-law, Shirley Pennell; niece, Marleen (Jerry) Ramsvig along with many other nieces and nephews; and special friends, Floyd Shook, Arnold Strang, and Ken and Roger Whaley. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, and eight siblings.

FUNERAL SERVICES will be 11:30 AM Monday, January 14, 2018 at Trinity Lutheran Church with Pastor Paul Appold officiating. VISITATION with the family will be 1 hour prior to the service, from 10:30-11:30 AM. Burial will take place in Egelston Twp.

Cemetery. Memorial Contributions in Bob’s name to Trinity Lutheran Church or Grace Hospice will be appreciated. Arrangements by The Sytsema Chapel, 737 Apple Ave.
