Obituary for James L. Heemstra Mr. James Loren Heemstra, age 67, passed away Monday, January 7, 2019 at his home in Norton Shores, Michigan. He was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan on September 21, 1951 to Kenneth and Joyce (Wood) Heemstra. For many years, Jim resided in White Cloud where he was a self-employed logger.

He had previously worked for Gerber Products Company. He then moved to New Mexico where he lived for over 25 years prior to returning to Muskegon in 2018. Jim was an animal lover, a Harley Davidson fanatic, and he enjoyed snowmobiling.

He was a gifted mechanic and could fix any type of engine. He will be lovingly remembered by his fiancé of 24 years, Lori Heiss; his daughter, Melony McPherson; two sons, Jeff (Cindy) Heemstra and Jeremy Heemstra; three grandchildren, Mason, Emerson, and Ashlynn; brother, Kevin (Jill) Heemstra and sister, Jodi (Leroy) Stark. He was preceded in death by his son, Matthew Heemstra; parents; and sister, Nancy.

A MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, January 12, 2019 at Croton Trinity Bible Church (8198 South Croton Hardy Drive, Newaygo, MI) with Pastor Kurt Chaffee officiating. MEMORIALS to Jim’s family to help with funeral expenses would be appreciated. Arrangements by The Lee Chapel, 6291 S. Harvey St., 231-798-1100.
