Obituary for Cindy Gerlach Mrs. Cindy Gerlach, age 64, of Spring Lake passed away January 1, 2019 at home. She was born January 8, 1954 in Port Huron, to George and Josephine (Fernandez) White. While attending Western Michigan University, she met Gary Gerlach and was engaged three months later.
On July 25, 1975 they were married at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Port Huron. Cindy was the secretary to the principal at Alward Elementary School in Hudsonville for 20 years. Her retirement in 2014 opened up free time to pursue some of her favorite things – traveling, golfing, cooking, entertaining, enjoying a Manhattan while looking out over Spring Lake, but most of all spending time with her family and especially her granddaughters.
Cindy was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Spring Lake and the Spring Lake Country Club. She also was a member of a stock and book club and cherished all her friendships. She is survived by her husband, Gary; two sons, Andrew (Angela) Gerlach of San Diego, CA, and Alex Gerlach of Grand Rapids; two granddaughters, Ilaria and Nina; mother, Josephine White-Clark; brothers, Greg White and David (Gail) White; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her dad, George White; step-father, Bob Clark; in-laws, Elizabeth and Roy Gerlach. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 1:00 PM Saturday, January 5, 2019 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Spring Lake with Father David Gross officiating. Visitation will be held 4-7 PM Friday, January 4, 2019 at The Spring Lake Chapel (213 E. Savidge St.) and one hour prior to the service at church.
