Robert Wayne Grindstaff September 20, 1946 – May 21, 2019 Share this obituary Sign Guestbook Robert Wayne Grindstaff, 72, Roan Mountain passed away Tuesday, May 21, 2019 in the James H. Quillen VA Medical Center. Born September 20, 1946 in Banner Elk, North Carolina to the late Roe Grindstaff and the late Jessie Dula Grindstaff Ellison. He was a 1964 graduate of Cranberry High School.

He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam Era. Robert was a house painter. He was a member of the Whitehead Hill Bible Christian Church.

He loved NASCAR Racing & a Duke Basketball fan. Survivors include his wife of 47 years: Lynda Waycaster Grindstaff. A son: Brian Wayne Grindstaff.

One Grandson: Asher Wayne Grindstaff. His Brother & Sister-In-Law: Frank Carson & Kay Grindstaff of Pennsylvania. One Nephew: Frank “Bip” Grindstaff, of Pennsylvania.

His sister-in-law: Brenda Waycaster, Murfreesboro, Tenn. Funeral Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, May 24, 2019 in Memorial Funeral Chapel with Pastor Terry Dugger and Pastor Delaney Berry officiating. Interment will follow in the Captain Nelson Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. The family would like to express a very special “Thank You” to the Staff of VA Hospice and Doctors, Nurses and staff of the James H. Quillen VA Medical Center for the excellent care he received. Military Honors will be provided by the Carter County Honor Guard.

The family will receive friends from 12 noon to 2 p.m. Friday prior to the service. Condolences may be sent to the family at our web-site www. memorialfcelizabethton.com.
