Obituary for Roberta “Babe” Walburn Roberta (Babe) Walburn peacefully passed away Sunday, July 22, 2018 after a short illness from complications of old age. Babe was born in Muskegon, Michigan to Raymond G. Storms and Cora C. Smith. She was raised in Lakeside and attended Bunker School and graduated from Muskegon High School in 1940.

Roberta married Max L. Walburn March 2, 1946. They were married 66 years until Max passed away on September 5, 2012. Babe worked hard in her life; she was formerly a private secretary at Kaydon Corp.

, Motor Specialities, Norge Corp. , and Continental Motors. After marriage she worked side-by-side with Max at their funeral home and raised six children.

Anyone that was lucky enough to know Babe will say she was always nice, and never had a bad word to say about anyone or anything. She could truly find the good in everything. Her beautiful spirit was an example to her family and friends.

Babe was an inspiration in so many ways. She loved her friends and family; and nothing made her happier than when she was surrounded by those that loved her. She was known as the perfect hostess; whether it was having large family get togethers or happy hour with her abundance of friends.

She always found a way to say something nice. She was kind and generous with her affection for people from all walks of life, and she took great pride as a volunteer for St. Vincent de Paul Soup Kitchen in Clearwater, FL for over 15 years. Her faith was very important to her, and she was a former member of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church in Muskegon, MI and Espiritu Santo Catholic Church in Safety Harbor, FL.

She is survived by her children, Barbara (Fred) Booth of Wayland, MI, Thomas (Shann) Walburn of Muskegon and New Buffalo, MI, Charles (Kathy) Walburn of Medina, OH, Peggy (Duane) Chalmers of Clearwater, FL, Michael (the late Beth) Walburn of Grand Rapids, MI, and Mary Jo (Jon) Tibbets of Coopersville, MI; five granddaughters; Stephanie, Chelsea, Danielle, Alicia, and Courtney, 11 grandsons; Brian, Todd, Matthew, Steven, Michael, Jacob, Ryan, Seth, Adam, Joshua, And Benjamin, 13 great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Arthur and Raymond and a sister, Evelyn. A celebration of life will be held Saturday, August 4, 2018 from 2 – 5 p.m. at Jon and Mary Jo Tibbets’ home in Coopersville, MI.
