Rod Sypitkowski, age 64, a 30-year resident of Huntington Woods, passed peacefully February 18, 2019 at his home. He was born December 19, 1954 in Detroit. A graduate of Roseville High School, Rod went on to receive an associate degree from Macomb Community College and his bachelor’s from the University of Detroit Mercy.

Rod’s career consisted of a lifetime of fine art photography and 23 years with Peerless Steel. Rod enjoyed being active within his community by coaching Royal Oak baseball, hockey and participating in the Catholic Youth Organization at Shrine Catholic Schools. In addition to his love for his family, faith and photography, Rod was an avid Detroit sports fan.

Rod was the beloved husband of Char; the couple married February 4, 1984 at Holy Innocents Catholic Church in Roseville. He was the loving father of Chris (fiancée Kelsey) Sypitkowski and Grant Sypitkowski. Cherished son of Dorothy and the late Chet Sypitkowski.

Son-in-law of the late R.C. and Nancy Cutsinger. Brother-in-law of Karen Brecherman, Nanci Ann (Tom) Bennett, MaryLou (the late Doug) Serb, Nora (Marty) Spear and Buddy (Carol) Cutsinger. Uncle to several nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews.

Also survived by his beloved dog, Chanel and granddog, Charlie. Visitation Thursday 2-8 pm with a 7 pm scripture service at the Wm. Sullivan & Son Funeral Home, 705 W 11 Mile Road (4 blocks E of Woodward), Royal Oak.

In state Friday 11:30 am until the time of Mass 12 noon at the National Shrine of the Little Flower Basilica, Royal Oak. Burial at Roseland Park Cemetery, Berkley. Memorials to Sky Foundation, Inc. (skyfoundationinc.org/) are appreciated.
