Obituary for Rodney L. Poston Rodney L. Poston, 85, of Cape Girardeau, Missouri died Tuesday, May 1, 2018 at Life Care Center of Cape Girardeau. He was born September 11, 1932 in Advance, Missouri to William “Bill” and Mildred Sitze Poston. He and Virginia M. Smith were married June 25, 1952 at Cape Girardeau.

She preceded him in death May 26, 2007. He and Helen McCormack were married May 16, 2009 at Cape Girardeau. Rodney served in the Army and retired from Cape GMC Pontiac.

He will be remembered by many for his love of family and passion for cars. He was a member of Capaha Antique Car Club and on many days could be found tinkering in his garage or at a car show with his 1930 Model A Ford. He was a member of First General Baptist Church in Cape Girardeau.

Survivors include his wife, Helen Poston of Cape Girardeau; three daughters, Debbie (Mark) Lunte of Arnold, Missouri, Bev (Jim) Givens of Arnold, Missouri and Shelley (Mike) Lucas of Jackson, Missouri; one son, Rodney L. Poston, Jr. of Louisville, Kentucky; one sister, Janet Poston of Jackson, Missouri; two brothers, Ronald R. Poston (Nancy) of Cape Girardeau and Richard Poston (Dorothy) of Jackson, Missouri; one sister-in-law, Lucille Poston of Waco, Texas; eleven grandchildren, David Smith, Darren Smith, Dana Kuehn, April Lunte, Scott Lunte, Jenisha Jones, Jamie Givens, Courtney Givens, Brooke Brantley, Allyssa Poston, Caleb Poston; and sixteen great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Virginia M. Poston; one daughter, Karen Lipps; one brother, William “Bill” Poston, Jr.; and a great-grandson. Visitation will be 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Sunday, May 6, 2018 at Ford & Sons Mt.

Auburn Chapel in Cape Girardeau. Funeral service will be at 11:00 AM Monday, May 7, 2018 at Ford & Sons Mt. Auburn Chapel in Cape Girardeau with the Revs.

Jim Rudolph and Sam Ramdial officiating. Burial will be at Fairmont Cemetery in Cape Girardeau, with full military honors. Memorial contributions may be given to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
