Missoula – Roger A. Cook died September 26, 2018, at his home in Missoula, Montana. Roger was born February 28, 1946, in Dickenson, North Dakota, to Melissa (Sipe) and Price Cook. He grew up on a farm outside of Grassy Butte, North Dakota, with his younger siblings, Marvin (“Gene”), Frances, Melissa (“Marie”), and Alwin (“Buster”).

Roger married the love of his life, Claudia (“Cookie”) Martin on September 10, 1971. Together they raised three children, Trena, Donna and Roger II. The family settled in Missoula in 1973, where Roger was an employee at American Dental, a company that manufactured dental instruments until it closed in the early 90’s.

Later, Roger became a part owner and operator of American Eagle Instruments in Missoula. He was very good at what he did. Roger was continually learning and sharing his knowledge of manufacturing dental instruments with his colleagues.

Roger was a Jack-of-All-Trades. He was a gunsmith, a knife fabricator, a leather worker, a mechanic, a farmer and a builder who built a cabin on his property up Hoover Creek in the mountains. He was always tinkering on a project.

Roger was also the family historian. Family gatherings often centered around him as he told stories of growing up on the farm and other family lore. Roger was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Gene; and his beloved wife of 46 years, Cookie.

He is survived by his siblings, Frances (Ken) Groff of Green Valley, AZ; Marie Cook of Round Mountain, NV; Buster (Phyllis) Cook of Round Mountain, NV; his children Trena (Charles) Marcure of Round Mountain, NV; Donna (Shane) Wheeler of St. Ignatius, MT; Roger Cook II, of Missoula, MT; and Bevin Harkins Cook, of Lolo, MT, his grandchildren Lateasha (Cameron) Nicholson; Tristan Marcure; Marvin Cook; Jessica Wheeler; Skyler Wheeler; Roger Cook III; Isabel Cook; and great granddaughter Laurali Nicholson. He is also survived by his newly born great-grandson Sawyer Nicholson, who he was looking forward to meeting. Roger will be cremated and laid to rest next to his wife, Cookie, in the spring of 2019.

Roger will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
