Ronald E. Poel, age 91 of Spring Lake, passed away on Monday, July 2, 2018 at Poppen House of Muskegon. He was born on January 3, 1927 in Grand Haven to the late J. Nyhof and Christine (Bonema) Poel. Ronald served in the United States Army from April of 1945 to December of 1946, and received the Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal, World War II Victory Medal, and the Army of Occupation Medal.

He married Arlene Kerton on July 20, 1956 in Grand Haven, and she preceded him in death on July 16, 2010. Ronald was a member of the First Presbyterian Church for 62 years, the American Legion, and former member of the Horseless Carriage Club. He had a passion for antique cars, and collected many throughout the years.

In his younger years, Ronald loved riding his motorcycle, waterskiing, and had a love of Chris-Craft wooden boats. He spent winters in Pine Island, FL, and loved spending time with his seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Ronald is lovingly remembered and missed by his son, Steve (Cheryl) Poel of Spring Lake; two daughters, MaryAnn Poel of Spring Lake and Nancy (Kevin) Mueller of Tucumcari, NM; grandchildren, Kurt Becklin, Heather and Jacob Poel, Cameron and Cory Mueller, Mitchel Zaverl and Marcie Ross; great-grandchildren, Leland and Blaine Poel, Cora Mueller; brothers, Stuart Poel of Spring Lake and Richard (Judith) Poel of Boyne City, MI; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

The Memorial Service for Ronald will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 14, 2018, at First Presbyterian Church with Rev. Troy Hauser Brydon officiating. Full Military Rites will be performed by the American Legion Charles A. Conklin Post #28.

The Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army or First Presbyterian Church. Please visit www.
