Obituary for Ronald McLaughlin Ronald G. McLaughlin, 78, of Willoughby, passed away Sunday, May 13, 2018, at his residence. Born Oct. 30, 1939, in Mentor, he had been a lifetime Lake County resident.

Ron served in the U.S. Army Reserves for 10 years, and was a lifetime member of F.O.P.A. Lodge 69, serving as their President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, Chaplain, Trustee and Member of the Year in 2003, and the F.O.P.A. State Lodge, where he had also served as their State President, Treasurer and was the 2012 State Member of the Year.

He also loved being Santa Claus for 17 years at Tower City, City of Eastlake, Willoughby Junior Women’s Club, CAVS game, Akron Aeros, Key Bank and many home parties. Ron had a special place in his heart for dachshund pups and had helped Relay For Life teams. Ron was a member of I.B.E.W.

Union Local 38 for 50 years, having worked as a lightning rod foreman and installer for 42 years. He also served on the Willoughby Planning Commission for 10 years and had worked as a limo driver for Cutting Edge Limo, and was honored as their Driver of the Year in 2011. Ron was the beloved husband for 43 ½ years to Donna R. (nee Sharp) Mclaughlin; loving father of George R. (Tammy) McLaughlin, Renee G. Molnar, Rhonda L. (Eric) Dulaney and Robin M. (Andrew) Winzer; cherished grandfather of Dallas, Dana, Megan, Rachele, Jacob, Becca, Logan and Sydney; great-grandfather of Keira, Kaelyn, Maria, Rosa, Cece, Greyson; brother of Pat and Greg; and uncle of many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William L. and Ida M. (nee Hagenburger) McLaughlin; and siblings, Berna, Earl, Lois, Ida, Carol, Dona, Carl and Bill. Family will receive friends from 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday at McMahon-Coyne-Vitantonio Funeral Home, 38001 Euclid Ave. , Willoughby, with a celebration of life at 4 p.m. Burial will be private.
