Ronald’s Obituary Ronald Gilliam McWatty, 74, of Rocky Point, died Thursday, May 23, 2019, at his home surrounded by his beloved family. He was born May 18, 1946, in Wilmington, NC to the late James Eugene McWatty Sr. and Lyda Gilliam McWatty. He is also preceded in death by his sister Barbara Becker and his brother James McWatty.

Ronald graduated from New Hanover County High School in 1964. He then served in the Army National Guard for several years. He was a member of Sertoma Club of Wilmington, Loyal Order of Moose and a member of First Baptist Church.

He was a manager of S & G Concrete, started his own trucking business and was a real estate broker. Ronald was a seeker of knowledge and adventure, a man of accomplishment who applied himself consistently to every task. Survivors include three daughters; Kristin Heatges and husband Jeff, Lorna A. McWatty, granddaughters Khaylin and Gwynith McWatty, and Sandra Radford, husband Durwood and children; a son, Ronald G. McWatty Jr; beloved stepson Christopher J. King.

A visitation will be held from 6-8 PM Sunday, June 2, 2019, at Andrews Market Street Chapel.
