Ronald Galen “Gale” Malone, 78, of Frostburg, passed away Sunday, September 16, 2018 at Devlin Manor Nursing and Rehab Center. Born August 20, 1940, he was the son of the late Van and Dorothy Tipton Malone of Cumberland. He was also preceded in death by brothers, Delmos Malone, William Malone of Ohio, Gerald Malone of Finzel, and John Malone of Georgia.

Gale served in the U.S. Army and Reserves. He was employed at CSX of Cumberland for 32 years. He enjoyed hunting, woodworking and running his John Deere tractor.

He was always ready to drink a cold beer at Cindys and loved to play the lottery. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Sharon (Peer) Malone, Frostburg; son, Steven Malone, Cumberland; daughters, Stacey Malone, Frostburg, Tonya Layman and husband Jason of Ridgeley; granddaughters, Danielle Malone and Sophie Layman; great grandchildren, Aubrey and MJ Stovall. Also surviving are brother, Harold Malone and wife Deb, Virginia; sister Jill Rowley and husband Eric, Frostburg; sister-in-law, Beverly Hoopengardner, brother-in-law, Howard Peer and wife Sandy of Short Gap; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Friends and family will be received at Durst Funeral Home P.A., 57 Frost Avenue, Frostburg, MD on Thursday, September 20, 2018 from 3 to 7 pm. Funeral Services will be at the funeral home on Friday, September 21, 2018 at 11:00 am with Rev. Daniel Agnew officiating Interment will be in Rest Lawn Memorial Gardens Our sincere thanks to the staff at Devlin Manor for the care they provided to Galen during his illness.
