Obituary for Ronald L. Laursen Ronald L. Laursen passed away on October 24, 2018, after a brief battle with cancer. Ron was born on April 29,1954, to Ervin and Kathryn Laursen in Cherokee, Iowa. The Laursen family relocated to Rush City, MN in 1958.

He graduated from Rush City High School in 1972. Ron moved to Fond du Lac around 1981 to work for Mirro-Foley in Chilton. He also worked for Federal Mogul in Waupun for several years before retiring due to medical issues.

Ron enjoyed 35+ years of sobriety. He was an avid reader. He also had a green thumb and enjoyed gardening.

He was able to make lots of days happier for people when they would pass by his home and get to enjoy the beautiful flowers he grew. He appreciated God’s creatures great and small and especially loved the dogs that he had through his lifetime. Ron displayed a gruff exterior but anyone that knew him would likely agree that he did have a soft spot that could be seen on an occasional basis.

For those that knew him best and cared about him the most, they all knew that Ron was not much for grand shows of affection or sweet words, but he loved in the best way he knew how. Ron is survived by his daughters, Leslie Laursen and Megan Dunham (Anthony). Ron is further survived by four brothers; Brian (Rose) of Colchester, CT.

; Marlin (Denise), Calvin and Larry all of Rush City, MN. Ron has three grandchildren, Evan, Aaron and Hannah Dunham. He will also be missed by his former spouse, Paula Thalacker and her husband, Brian.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ervin and Kathryn Laursen and a younger brother, Dana. Thanks to the care team at Agnesian/SSM for their care and their compassion as well as to Hospice House of Hope for the tender manner in which they assist patients and family. Cremation has taken place.
