Ronald Lee Brooks, 77, of Pocatello, Idaho passed away on Friday, June 29, 2018, at his home following an illness. Ron was born on June 16, 1941 in Norton, Kansas, to Joseph and Alice Carr Brooks. As a young child, Ron and his sister (Marylin) and his parents lived in Kansas.

They would spend every Sunday with their extended family having family dinner and playing games. In… Read More » 1948, Ron and his family moved to Gooding, Idaho, to be close to other family members.

The family lived and worked on the Falkner Ranch until 1950 when they moved to the Crock Ranch in Tuttle, Idaho. As a child Ron liked to ride his bike, go horseback riding, and go fishing. While on the ranch he also learned the value of hard work, this was a trait which he carried with him through his life.

In 1955 the family moved to Gooding, Idaho. Ron graduated from Gooding High School in 1960. Ron enlisted in the Air Force in 1960, but was only able to serve for two months due to a health issue.

In 1961, Ron moved to Pocatello to live with his sister. In 1969, Ron met and married the love of his life, Shirley. Ron not only became a husband at that time, but he also became a father to Shirley’s six-month old son, Darrin.

Ron and Shirley lived in Inkom for a while and then made their home in Pocatello. Ron enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He loved to go camping, fishing, and an occasional trip to Jackpot.

Ron always had a smile on his face and was truly a kind heart. If you needed help with anything, he would be there. In his early years in Pocatello, Ron was employed at IGA and Safeway.

Ron then worked for the City of Pocatello in the Traffic Engineering Department until he retired. Even after he retired, Ron liked to stay busy so he took a job with Maag’s and then with Ridley’s. Ron is survived by wife, Shirley; son, Darrin (Katye) Ridley, sister Marylin (Harold) Bower; nieces Gina Call and Tracy (Bill) Beeton.

He was preceded in death by his parents Joe and Alice Brooks and his in-laws Millio and Carrie Tofanelli. A Mass of a Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, July 9, 2018 at 11:00 AM at Holy Spirit Catholic Community, St. Anthony’s Chapel on 7th Ave, Pocatello, Idaho.
