Obituary for Rosalie Kerns (Taylor) Rosalie (Taylor) Kerns, age 89 of McVicker Road (Pleasant Creek Community) Philippi, WV passed away Sunday, July 1, 2018 at the Grafton City Hospital. She was born April 9, 1929 in Upshur County, WV a daughter of the late Nicholas and Retha G. (Morrison) Taylor. She is survived by one daughter, Pamela Sue Brown of Belpre, OH; two sons, Roger B. Kerns of Barbour County and Richard D. Kerns and wife Debbie of Coolville, OH; six grandchildren, Cheryl Knotts, Melissa Moore, Dustin Brown, Jody Brown, Becky Parsons, and Jaymie Wright; 23 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great- grandchildren; one sister, Jenny Honshul of Franklin, OH; three brothers, Jack Taylor of Painesville, OH, Nick Taylor Jr., of Baton Rouge, LA, and Leo Kampas of Cleveland, OH; one aunt, Louise Holt of Smithville, OH; also survived by several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, James D. Kerns who passed away on January 18, 2016; her daughter, Carol L. Skiles; one great-grandson, Chais Jones; one son-in-law, Gary Brown; two sisters, Viola Melnyk and Kathrine Preston; and one brother, George Taylor Rosalie graduated from Flemington High School with the Class of 1947. She was a member of the Webster’s Homemakers Club (CEO’S), a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary 3081 of Grafton and a member of the Pleasant Creek United Methodist Church. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister to her family.
The family would especially like to thank her wonderful caregivers, Roconda Daughtery, Helen Snyder, and Susie Mitchell. The family will receive friends at the Donald G. Ford Funeral Home in Grafton on Thursday, July 5th from 3:00-8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Friday, July 6, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. with David Daughtery and Rev. Becky Stewart officiating.
