Rogers V.A. Medical Ctr. In Bedford at the age of 95. Russ was born in Belmont in 1923, graduated from Belmont High School and served in the Army Air Corps during WW2.

He worked for many years at Ideal Oldsmobile in Medford and Bellotti Oldsmobile in Somerville. He was also proprietor of Waverly Donuts in Belmont until his retirement at which time the shop’s popular mural of Old Waverley Sq. was donated to the Belmont Public Library on Concord Ave.

Russ along with other dedicated parents organized Belmont POMS(Parents of Musical Students) in the 1970’s, a non-profits active in providing support to music students in the Belmont Public Schools. Russ is survived by his children: Russell of Bloomington IN, Nicholas of Reading and Stephanie Michael of St. Louis MO and his brother Anthony Bonanno of Arlington.

He was predeceased by his sisters Ann Barreira and Constance Bonanno as well as his brothers Nicholas & Salvatore Bonanno. Funeral Service in the Stanton Funeral Home 786 Mt. Auburn St. (Rt16) Watertown on Thursday at 11 A.M. Interment Belmont Cemetery.

Relatives and friends respectfully invited to attend. Visitation Thursday 9:30-11 AM. In lieu of flowers contributions in his memory to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America, 322 Eighth Avenue, 7th Floor New York, NY 10001 or to POMS of Belmont, P.O. Box 48 Belmont, MA 02478 would be appreciated.
