Rose A Guarini , October 06, 1931 — March 11, 2019

Rose A. Guarini (Nee Scerbo), 87, of Bayonne, and formerly of Jersey City, passed on peacefully at home on March 11, 2019, while surrounded by her devoted children. Born on October 6, 1931, in the province of Marcillinara, Calabria, Italy, to Guiseppe Scerbo (Gatto) and Maria (Forese) Scerbo. She came with her family to America in 1939 when she was 7 yrs old.

They settled in downtown Jersey City and Holy Rosary Parish. She was one of 5 children; her brothers: (late) Frank Scerbo (& Ninfa), (late) Louis Scerbo, Anthony (Ton-Nue) Scerbo (& Debbie), Nicholas Scerbo (& (late) Joanne). Her half sister was Carmela Assuntina Scerbo Bevacqua.

In July, 1952, she married George F. Guarini. They had 5 children together: George J. Guarini (& Marilette), John J. Guarini (loving caretaker), Louis J. Guarini (& Gail), Frank M. Guarini, and Georgina Guarini Scanlon (& Son-in-law Matt (JCPD), who helped in her caretaking). They settled in the Marion section of Jersey City.

She had 10 grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Our Mom, Rose, was such an extraordinary woman. She instilled great Faith, Respect, Compassion, and so much love in all her children.

She lived with passion and a joyful heart, always. That is what we were taught by her example. All who knew her, loved her.

Her door was always open to anyone in need and she looked to see the good in others. Her social life was busy; She loved her trips to Atlantic City, and her nights at Bingo. She was a member of the 50+ club at Our Lady of Mt.

Carmel, and enjoyed her time volunteering at the Mt. Carmel Feast each year. She was always up for a fun time.

She leaves us with a beautiful legacy. She was a Mom of great strength and resilience, and she is now free to be herself again. Amen.

A visitation for Rose will take place on Thursday, March 14, 2019, from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Funeral Home (for GPS use address 14 Stagg St., Jersey City). Funeral Services will begin on Friday, March 15, 2019, 10:00 AM at the Funeral Home, followed by an 11:00 AM Mass at Holy Rosary Church, Jersey City. Burial will follow at Holy Name Cemetery, Jersey City.
