Obituary for Rosemary Adele McCutcheon Rosemary Adele Garces McCutcheon was born in San Francisco to Spanish immigrants Maximo and Angela Garces on February 27, 1928. At an early age the family moved to Los Gatos where they ran a laundry. She loved her dog Rosie and playing with her brother Harry and cousin George.

At the age of 12 they moved to start another laundry business in Pacific Grove. Rosemary’s fondest memories of High School were playing field hockey and the cello. At the age of 18, she went off to Armstrong College in Berkeley, with her brother Harry, to whom she was very close.

On the weekends they would drive home to Pacific Grove where she would take care of the bookkeeping for the laundry and spend time with her family. In 1950 she graduated from Armstrong College with degrees in Marketing and Accounting and began her career in retail as a buyer for H C Capwells. While attending Armstrong she joined a sorority, made life-long friends, some who are here today and met her first love Wilfred McCutcheon.

They were married on August 26, 1951 and were soul mates for 63 years. In 1954, Wilfred and Rosemary purchased a home in Lafayette where they raised their daughters Leslie and Laura. They remained in that house until 2013, when they moved to El Dorado Hills.

As a devoted mother, Rosemary was involved in whatever her children were involved in. These activities included Camp Fire Girls and Job’s Daughters. Perhaps her greatest joy was being a grandmother to her six grandchildren.

Rosemary is remembered by all for her hospitality. Her home was a welcoming place and there was never a shortage of dinner guests or chocolate chip cookies. She deeply cared for the senior members of the family, her neighbors, friends and anyone she knew in need of a meal, a visit or an outing.
