Obituary of Rosemary & Dion Spafford Dion Spafford, a retired mechanical engineer, passed away September 6th, 2018 in Southlake Texas, after a year long battle with cancer. Dion was born in Ohio, August 20th, 1938. Dion proudly served his nation as a Marine and then enjoyed a successful business career in the mechanical engineering field, helping to build to hospitals, prisons and luxury resorts throughout the United States.

However, his main focus and passion was the love of his life, Rosemary. Dion and his family relocated often and made life long friends with the people they met. The Spaffords settled in the Houston area and called Houston home for the last 24 years.

Dion is survived by his step-daughters Kathy Courtney (husband Cliff) and Barbara Borchardt of Bedford Texas and Rhiannon Borchardt. . He was also a grandfather to Chris, Aubrey and Brenden Courtney and Grant and Amy Borchardt.

He was also a great-grandfather to Emma, Wilder and Liam Borchardt. Dion’s life will be celebrated Wednesday, January 23rd at Whites Chapel United Methodist Church, Southlake at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers the family is requesting donations to M.D. Anderson Cancer Center or Montgomery County Assistance League. Rosemary Spafford, a retired executive assistant for commercial real estate developers, doctors and other professionals throughout the United States, went home to the Lord January 10th, 2019, in Grapevine Texas.

Rosemary was born in Kenton Ohio February 9th, 1943. After her professional career, Rosemary settled into the Houston area and began serving with the Montgomery County Assistance League. In what little spare time she had, she was active in line dancing and jazzercise.

Rosemary made life long friends in the many communities that her husband Dion and she lived. Rosemary was a devoted mother and best friend to her daughters Kathy Courtney (husband Cliff) and Barbara Borchardt of Bedford Texas and Rhiannon Borchardt. Rosemary dearly loved her grandchildren, Chris, Aubrey and Brenden Courtney and Grant and Amy Borchardt.

She was also a great-grandmother to Emma, Wilder and Liam Borchardt. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the Montgomery County Assistance League.
