Rosemary Smith March 11, 1924 – March 09, 2019 Share this obituary Send Flowers Sign Guestbook| Send Sympathy Card Toms River, NJ—Rosemary (Marsala) Smith, 94, entered into eternal life on Saturday, March 9, 2019 at RWJ University Hospital-Somerset in Somerville, NJ. Born and raised in NY, NY, daughter of the late Joseph and Katherine (Brown) Marsala, she later raised her family in Bronx, NY before relocating to Brick Township, Toms River and recently to Bridgewater, NJ. Rosemary loved to bake and was known internationally for her Irish Soda bread.

She also enjoyed knitting, feeding the birds, playing canasta and trips to Atlantic City. Besides her parents, Rosemary was predeceased by her beloved husband James W. Smith, Sr.; sons, Alfred and Robert and sister Katherine Mayer. Rosemary is survived by her devoted son James W. Smith, Jr.; seven cherished grandchildren, Terrance, Aerin, Matthew, Shannon, James III, Ryan and Thomas; adored great grandchildren, Kari Ann, Harrison and Hannah; and a dear cousin who was always there for her, Judith Little.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a viewing at Countryside Funeral Home, 724 Route 202 North, Three Bridges, NJ 08887 on Tuesday, March 12 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. and on Wednesday, March 13 from 8:30 – 9:15 a.m. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 13 beginning at 9:15 a.m. at the funeral home followed by a 10:00 a.m. funeral liturgy at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Roman Catholic Church in Three Bridges. Committal words and interment will follow at Ocean County Memorial Park in Toms River, NJ. Memorial contribution may be made in Rosemary’s name to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Memorial and Honor Program, 505 North Parkway/Box 3704, Memphis, TN 38103, www.
