Rosemary Ann Ward, prolific pie-maker, seamstress, knitter, gardener, lover of sweets, and beloved wife and mother, died Sept. 27, 2018, in Bend, Oregon, six days shy of her 87th birthday. Born Oct.

5, 1931 in Wapakoneta, Ohio, Rosie married Elmer Ward in 1952. They lived in various parts of the Midwest while Elmer worked in the oil industry. They had been married nearly 57 years when Elmer passed in 2009.

The Wards lived in Texas, Indiana, Illinois, and Michigan before moving to Wyoming where they lived for more than 30 years. They moved to Bend in 1996. Together they enjoyed fly-fishing, skiing, hiking, wildflower-hunting, wildlife-watching and traveling to visit their children.

Rosie loved feeding a crowd and giving pie-making lessons. She regularly volunteered for the American Red Cross in Bend at the donation center and during blood drives. She also enjoyed knitting quilt squares to be made into blankets by Red Cross volunteers for veterans at the hospital in Portland.

She is survived by her loving children, their spouses and children: Cindy Adkins and her husband Bill of Bend and their son Erik (his wife Kimberly) of Renton,Washington; Tom Ward and his wife Kathy Reedy of Jackson, Wyo. ; Steve Ward, his wife Kris and their son Jared of Midway, Utah; Karen Ward Gilbert, her husband Joe and their son Graham of Helena, Mont.
