Ms. Rosetta Jean (Dorsey) Bowman was born on January 13, 1939, to the (late) Blanche Dorsey in Washington, DC. She departed this life at 2:10 am on February 10, 2019 from the University of Maryland Regional Center in LaPlata, Maryland from an on-going illness.

Rosey or Rose affectionately called, was raised in a Christian family and baptized at a very young age. She moved to Prince Georges County to live with her (late) Godmother, Elnora Dodson. She lived with her Godmother for a couple of years until she became ill.

Then she moved to Indian Head, Maryland to live with her (late) Uncle William and Aunt Lucille Bowman. She was raised with her cousins, whom she considered siblings: (late) Clifton, Elnora and Charles. She attended Pleasant Grove Baptist Church for several years with her Aunt Lucille until they left to join Smith Chapel United Methodist Church.

Since that time until now she remained a faithful member until her illness. Rosetta enjoyed attending Pomonkey High School where she was active in the A cappella Choir, Charm Club, Sewing Club and Future Business Leaders of America. Her ambition was to be an accomplished Pianist after graduating from Pomonkey High School in 1956.

She married Joseph when he returned home from the United States Navy. They were married on October 24, 1958. Their union of 55 years was blessed with 10 children: Joseph Jr (Joann), Carmen, Almalita (Luther), LaVonne (deceased), Gregory (deceased), Zachary, Andrea (Richard), Johnathan (Pam), Roxanne (fiancé Edmond) and Marc (Diana).

She was blessed with 27 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren, and a goddaughter Janice. Rosetta enjoyed attending church; ministry calling to the sick and shut-ins; reading the Bible, newspapers, books; watching soap operas, gospel programs, Redskins, Comedy and Lifetime movies; visiting other churches and traveling with her family.
