Obituary of Roslyn Weiman Roslyn F. Weiman, age 100, a resident at the Jewish Home of Rochester, passed away on July 22, 2018. She was born on April 30, 1918 in Brooklyn NY, the daughter of Morris and Sarah Friedman. On September 3, 1939 she married David N. Weiman who predeceased her on April 14, 1990.

Roslyn was a 1934 graduate of James Madison High School in Brooklyn NY. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Brooklyn College in 1938 and a Master of Science degree in Library Education from Queens College in 1962. Born and raised in Brooklyn she resided temporarily in Pennsylvania during WWII before returning to Brooklyn to teach in elementary school while pursuing her Masters degree.

She spent the majority of her professional career setting up and administering several school libraries in Brooklyn, Queens and Nassau County. In addition to doing extensive travel in Europe, Africa, and Asia she and her husband were avid folk dancers and bridge players. They also were active in the Institute for Retired Professionals and Executives at Brooklyn College.

In 1998 she moved to Rochester becoming one of the earliest residents of the Summit at Brighton. While a resident of the Summit she set up the library there as well as those at the Jewish Home and Wolk Manor. In addition to overseeing the libraries she taught folk dancing, edited the newsletter, and served on the resident council.

She moved to Wolk Manor in the spring of 2017 and to Green House Cottage 3 at the Jewish home in the spring of 2018. In addition to her husband David she was predeceased by her sister Theresa Rachleff, her brother Herbert Friedman, her daughter-in-law Kathryn Weiman, and a special nephew Owen Rachleff. She is survived by her son Donald Weiman of Almond NY, four step-grandchildren Jeffrey, Steven and Allen Kilmer & Denise (Durwood) Schutt, and numerous step-great-grandchildren and step-great-great-grandchildren .
