He was predeceased by his parents, William and Catherine Quinlan, and infant children, Virginia and Michael. Bill is survived by his beloved wife, Kathie; his daughters, Linda Marie Quinlan (David Basinger), Elizabeth Quinlan-Bohn (Michael Bohn), and Dorothy Sorbello (Paul); his grandchildren, Emily, William, and Nelleke Rus (and their father, Marvin Rus), Patrick and Cathleen Bohn, and Adam and Francesca Sorbello.

Also survived by sister-in-law, Margaret Rogers; sister-in-law/brother-in-law, Veronica and Arthur Johnson; brother-in-law/sister-in-law, William and Robin Mayrl; nieces and nephews; and many dear friends. He was a researcher at the University of Rochester for 50 years, where some of his happiest hours were spent in the lab. Thanks to the kind staff of the Highlands at Pittsford Living Center, where Bill spent his last month.

A special thank you to the devoted staff of Dad’s favorite restaurant, the Country Club Diner on East Avenue, who treated him with warmth and caring for many years and where he always felt at home. He thought the world of you. Bill was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather; a tremendously hard worker; an avid golfer; a passionate lifelong learner with an insatiable curiosity; and a brilliant comedian.

But above all, he was a good and decent man – one of great integrity, whose kindness and generosity knew no bounds. It is said that we only die when no one speaks our name. If this is true, Bill will live forever in our stories of him and, if we’re lucky, in the way we make the world a better place – just the way he taught us.

A private green burial was held on July 7th at White Haven Memorial Park. Calling hours will be TODAY, July 8th, 4 – 8 PM at the funeral home (495 Winton Rd. N.).

A Memorial Service will be held Monday, July 9th, 10 AM at Spiritus Christi Church, 121 Fitzhugh Street N., Rochester, NY 14614. Those wishing to contribute, please consider Isaiah House, 71 Prince St., Rochester, NY 14605, the hospice ministry he nurtured alongside Kathie.
